Seafloor Investigations completes design and construction of new portable 20ft containerized lab vans designed to support processing of polymetalic nodules and deep sea biologic samples. The SFI lab vans are based on standard ISO 20ft containers modified to meet safety requirements for a human occupied portable lab space container. They are designed with an internal strut system to allow a reconfigurable lab space, have US 120VAC/20amp/60Hz and EU 230VAC/20amp/50Hz power outlets throughout the van, lighting, wall mounted monitors, adjustable height wood work benches, sink, safety gear and specialized scientific equipment. There are 3 types of labs: GEOLAB - a geologic dry lab with scientific scale, sample drying oven and sample photo station for processing polymetalic nodules. CHEMLAB - a chemical dry lab with vented fumehood and sample freezer. OFFICELAB - a dry lab / office for general use.
